The antenna placement could affect signal strength by a lot. Cybershack AU has actually shown this in their reviews. Also the type of antenna lines used can affect signal reception quality.

    Example:
    Take the following three cases:
    * Galaxy A52s vs Galaxy A73 (both use the Snapdragon 778)
    * Galaxy A25 vs Galaxy A33 (both use the Exynos 1280)
    * Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A35 (both use the Exynos 1380)

In all three cases, the former devices have weaker signal reception strengths than the latter, despite the very same SOCs (and thus the very same wireless modems). The only logical conclusion could be antenna placement and type. The A52s and A25 have their main antennas mostly on the bottom of the device near the sub-board i.e. where the USB-C port and bottom firing speaker assembly are, while the A73's and A54's are just weird and different. The A33 and A35 have their antenna lines laid on the tops of the devices, beside the cameras (which is the most logical choice). Their antenna lines are also laid out on the mainboard in different ways and are more extensive.

Note: In the case of the A73's weird antenna placement: its signal reception strength can drop greatly if your hand covers the bottom panel of the device (because weird placement) but is otherwise stronger than the A52s in general.

As for the A3x series: Clearly superior antenna set-up compared to their A5x counterparts using the same SOC model.

But what is the quantifiable amount? "a lot" is completely arbitrary. I'm not defending building shit to a lesser standard or inferior or anything like that. But I need like a percentage or "instead of 5 full bars of reception it was 3". I just can't see how within a 5inch apparatus the signal is that dramatically affected vs the towers that deliver the signal. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the placement is enough that it gets interference from something else within the device that fucks it over. Maybe it's just a worse antenna.

Some reveiwers measure the signal strength either in terms of radio characteristics (dbm) or in terms of actual wattage of signal picked up by the antennas. The German website connect.de uses dbm, while the Australian website cybershack uses the wattage method. I believe cybershack pushes phone signal reception tests to the max by actually testing them in blackspot areas outside a big city.

The dbm (decibel milliwatt) test indicates the sounding strength of the radio receivers and transmitters, with higher dbm being better.
Below 11 dbm is considered unusable for 4G/5G.
11 to 13 dbm is just usable but still bad reception.
13 to 15 dbm is average.
15 to 17 dbm is good.
    Above 17 is just excellent.

    Example:
Galaxy A54 manages 14 to 20 dbm. The A35 manages 17 to 22 dbm. That is actually a big difference. 3 dbm difference can translate to nearly double the upload/download speeds. This is stupid, considering both have the same SOC in them.

The antenna wattage strength indicates what level of signal wattage the phone antenna is actually catching in terms of femtowatt (fW) or picowatt (pW). 1000 femtowatt equals 1 picowatt. Again, the higher the fw or pw rating, the better the signal reception strength.
Below 250 fW (or 0.25 pW) is unusable for 4G/5G.
250 fW to 1 pW is average. Just about enough to stream a youtube video in 360p. Video calling will be possible but of poor quality.
1 pW to 7 pW is good. Enough to stream a youtube video in 480p to 720p or make a satisfactory video call.
Above 7 pW is excellent. Sufficient to stream content in 720p to 1080p comfortably and make a high quality video call, especially if it goes into double digit pW.

    Example:
    (1) If the Galaxy A53 manages 50 fW (unusable) to 5 pW, the A33 manages 250 fW to 7 pW. This is a big difference, actually.
    (2) If the Galaxy A54 manages 1 to 7 pW, the A35 manages 3 to 25 pW. That is a ridiculous difference. The A35 antennas are picking up literally over three times the wattage of the A54. Both devices have the same SOC, but the differences are huge in the antenna reception strengths.

    Goodnight, white chocolate milk.

Yeah, ok that contextualizes it, thanks. I guess it can be multiple factors affecting it too. but I'm also convinced that the towers have degraded over time at least in my area. xD

2k usd for 5090 and it should be 3.5k aud but is 4k as expected xD Realistically probably 4-4.5k.

The factors are not just tower degradation. Two other factors that Aussie telecos seemingly ignore are density/traffic and distance (because Australia is big fukken place). If they focused more on providing more sub-6 800 MHz coverage instead of sub-6 Ghz level coverage, the situation would be a lot better. UL/DL speeds would likely be a tad lower, but coverage would likely improve. Better coverage with acceptable UL/DL are probably preferable to shit coverage with high UL/DL speeds in only select areas. However, the main problem is that these telecos are run by a bunch of short-sighted chuckle-fukks who don't give a damn about their own kids, never mind their customers.

I have a client (who is also a distant relative) who works for Samsung R&D and a cousin who works for Nvidia. And they both only occasionally tell me shit.

    PS:
    @Gobb
RTX 5070 seems to be actually good value for money?

Yeah so basically just fucked across the board lol

I assume that's actually true not like the meme me and @JoeJoe said lol That's cool in that case.

Eh idk, they didn't seem to price gouge it at least. The whole "4090 for 599" or whatever the price is is horseshit though lol. It's like with dlss or ai or whatever.

You wouldn't get base 5070 maybe 5070 ti or 5080 might be best seeing reviews to see cost / performance difference. 5070 and 5070 ti are feb, 5080 and 5090 are 30 jan.
