    Why fix something that's not broken? It's like that so the width is consistent across all fronts. If you would further like to inquire, feel free to ask @Aeryn who is the one that created the theme in large.

    On the newer theme templates, because that's how it was created. It did that, and honestly, it looked quite ugly to have different sizes to each avatar, a fixed width gives the same all around look to the thread structure. In addition, it was widened to accommodate the message, likes, trophies and keno counts.

    The general consensus is that it was messier. Again, if you have disagreements with design choices in the theme, the best person to inquire about it would be Aeryn as she's the one that made it and would be the one to do any changes.
