It's okay when it's a special thing done once in a while. Ichigo's nakama speech against Grimmjow was okay, as are the majority of Naruto's and in early Fairy Tail. It's towards the later stages of Naruto II and Fairy Tail that it started to get annoying for me.

Mashima just straight up forgot the art of knowing when to be serious and when to be funny. That's why the last two arcs were just a pain. The anime is even worse.

And I say this being someone who defended Fairy Tail.
