Yeah.

It has connections to other stories but mostly by villains. Other than that when one part ends, that's where that story ends.

 

That's why you don't need for every part to be released since they have very to little no connection with eachother.

Part 1 to part 3 have the most connection and those are all released by now. Part 4 is just different and Part 5 feels like a well done spin off.

Part 6 is the last connection to the old series. Part 7 starts from the very beginning.

Part 1 is the beginning.
Part 2 is the continuation to part 1
Part 3 is the continuation to part 2
Part 4 is no continuation, some same characters appear but the story itself has no meaning to the overall story.
Part 5 is the same thing.
Part 6 in the other hand is a continuation and don't want to spoil why.
Part 7 is new.
Part 8 is new.

 

There are 8 JoJo manga as of now and every part is a different part.

Unless they are saying Set instead of Part since then it's a same thing. If they are saying Diamond is Unbreakable = part 1.
