Normal Game Thread Cow's Assassin Game (Canceled)

The excercise isn't to catch Mafia. It's to (potentially) shorten the investigation pool for cops, force scum to lie and get everyone in thread posting something relevant. Really, it's just a way to start the game off.

I was. I don't see how what I said goes against that belief. Globear doesn't strike me as the kind of player who is all that confident at all, regardless of alignment (I forget, but if I stressed my statement only applied to scum last game it was probably because I was looking for an excuse to town read someone). Globear even outright said she doesn't have to be anything but passive then, as town, too. My issue was, claiming that being passive is somehow "against meta" is just flat out wrong, regardless of what you feel about passive play itself. That's the argument I have issue with.

 

Well, I say "the point isn't to catch them", but that's pretty poorly worded. More like the overall goal of it isn't to just win the game, but to offer a starting block (and everything else I said on it). If it catches scum out, great, but that' not really the measure of whether it was ran successfully or not.

 

And that forces him to have to keep pushing that angle that nets near zero gain in the long run.

I don't feel like pointing out what I didn't like about Globears tone, but its def awkward.

Can't disagree but at this point we have no idea who to lynch so might as well build a foundation and start off somewhere by lynching her.

 

I mean she didn't even try to defend herself and the general consensus here is that Glob might be guilty.

 

I mean, anecdotal evidence aside, if you recognize that this is a "everyone has to agree for it to work" deal, then don't you clearly see why I'm pushing for it?

Uh, no. That's not all it does. As I already explained, the point is that this takes away the possibility of claiming Miller in reaction to a Cop guilty (or just prior to a Cop guilty, if things are done correctly). It forces Scum into a lie early so that, when they're caught, they don't have time to shape the lie to fit the situation. It costs us nothing, and puts us in a slightly better position.

To be honest, I haven't played a game that allows claiming aside from my few games in Town of Salem, but I'll do my best. ouo)9

That being said... I don't have much to say. Like there hasn't been anyone who sticks out that much. I suppose Ningen, Rot, and Quick are particularly active, but as scum? Nah, not really.

As for Globear lynch, well, mmkay. Mostly because I don't have a better reason for someone else unless if we're going an inactive lynch, but it's really just "her opening post sounds weird." Like that by itself isn't much, but we do only have 2 hours and 20 minutes left by the time I post this, so I'm not sure if a better reason will come up by then. Weak reads is kind of expected given the limited material we have in Day 1, or at least nothing mind blowing. I have played with her before and in regards to her play style, she is the kind of person to wait for other people to talk before she casts her own opinion regardless of alignment, although it is a little strange for her to not be responding. I don't know if that's just because she's busy or whatever, but it is kind of eh to me that she hasn't defended herself.

To put it simply, why not. There isn't really a particular reason not to lynch her unless there's a better candidate, which as far as I know, is at best an inactive (i.e. Shanks), which to be honest, is just as viable as a lynchee as Globear.

 

I guess if Glo is lynched and she flips scum, it does clear Quick for the most part since it's hard to imagine scum to push for another scum's lynch in Day 1 of all times. Not that I didn't see this once, but that was mostly because of the mafia's miscalculation at the time. Vice versa applies if Glo flips scum, albiet not with the same level as certainty. I suppose that much is a given if Glo is lynched rather than Shanks.

Seems odd that not only has she not defended herself, she hasn't even voted as an attempt to defend herself, even with the current voting rules in place.

Just to make sure, @Globear , are you aware there is a separate voting thread in this game? It is different to what we're used to.

Not really sure how I feel about the lynch today. With activity as weak as its been, coupled with the very short deadline, I don't really have a strong read on anyone. I believe @Crispickle is mostly fluffing, @S H I N T O's only post was to complain that there were posts in a text-based game centered around discussion with a tight deadline, @Globear up and disappeared when people started voting her, and @Shanks still hasn't posted.

In the absence of time to form proper reads, I'm alright with lynching any of @Crispickle, @Globear, or @S H I N T O. Since we have a sub lined up, I'd request that our lovely host @Cow consider mod-subbing @Shanks out. I should be on right up to the deadline, so I'll assess the thread and place my vote in a bit. We have, I believe, about an hour and a half left, yes?

You're saying it contains repetitions cos of Quick's repetitive defence - so?
How does that even affect my post?
