Dragon Ball Super Episode 128

Yea the punch hurt him bad. Made no sense.

I disagree with him beating up Goku tho. It was clear that he was toying with them and let them try doing something which he seems to have a habit of doing (kamehameha wait, final flash tank, no stamina vegeta trying to beat him). Not really a nerf but still makes no sense since the tournament has only 2 mins left and literally all they gotta do is stall.

As for hype, I really never fell for it. Jiren is a terrible character with a lame design, bland personality, and cliche backstory. He's literally just a nonsense obstacle the lazy writers put for Goku to overcome.

 

*Sigh* Vegeta gets shafted so Goku can get the spotlight....again

Anyways, I still enjoyed the episode overall, it felt like a call back to when Vegeta was stalling for time for Goku during their battle against Kid Buu. Now we get to see, mastered UI next episode, so I guess thats something to look forward too(UI Gogeta would have been way better tbh).

 

honestly i'm tired of the same formula being used over and over again. They've could've approached this differently. Why does vegeta always need to get his ass handed to him by the antagonist. So annoying. I wouldn't be surprised if goku defeats jiren at all.

 

I'm still pretty happy with the moments he was given this arc like saving Roshi, reaching a new form Goku has been unable to achieve, defeating an opponent who's strength is on the level of a god of destruction, etc. I just hate he always has to hand the baton off to Goku at the end of nearly every arc and I thought we saw them going away from this with the Goku Black Arc, but it seems like they shifted back into the series's comfort zone, which is a shame really.

 

Tbh a lot of moments in these last couple episodes seem to be throwbacks to old Z moments. Maybe Toei just wants to wrap this up already and move on to something else so they use old tricks to do it.
