Also power scaling in OP is pretty consistent with Haki, Naruto was never consistent at all. We had "chakra" system which again...was a myth in the story.

It's not about that it's literally about Oda offpaneling almost every 2nd fight who isn't Luffy like what happened in Naruto war arc almost every fight included nardo

    Yup

    It's downright asspull nowadays

Imagine having God mode that you used to defeat the strongest Emperor currently in 1vs1 but then Rob Lucci is giving you a fight

I guess we were talking about entirely different things. I don't think anyone thinks aliens weren't alien to Naruto, pun unintended. I was talking about the inconsistent massive power leaps.

If we are just talking about good/bad arcs, not just decline, out of P1 I would say wave was good, chunin exams was largely solid and tsunade retrieval was pretty meh along with sasuke retrieval was ok.

post ts naruto was pretty unremarkable too with a slow start. I think that Itachi vs Sasuke, pain and Gokage summit were good and war was decline again, but it was mostly fine. I know I missed some naruto arcs I can't even remember them all.

For OP I think that first arcs were slow building kinda average, arlong park was great. I didn't really care for little garden/chopper's island although it did have some good moments. Alabasta also was so-so. I didn't particularly like skypeia either. Water 7 also so-so but the tail end and enis lobby was great. Thriller bark was different, but I liked how Luffy's power up was unique. I think the last few arcs of pre-ts were great. didn't like fishman island, punk hazard was pretty meh, dressrosa was good although it had too many chars and dragged, couldn't give a shit about wci, zhou decent, wano had same issue as dressrosa dragged way too long, but also had that weird overall pacing, focusing on random shit, etc.

Imagine defending offpanel though but then we get 100 reaction shots of shit? It's like how the Revs base was raided off panel.

Yup, the inconsistencies are nonsensical. Like how tf is zoro not using coc to oneshot ******* kaku? Like what? How are they struggling with toddler lunarians when he put down king the experienced one?

Oda's power inconsistency was okay when everyone had bounty like less tha 100 million berri but now lol how is a dude with multiple power ups 3 billion berri bounty who defeated likes of Sweet Commander and fought toe to toe with yonko is struggling with a guy he beat like 700 chaps back who was literally in like wut in coma for half the panels.

There was cover page story of CP9 earning money for lucci's recovery lmao

Yeah, I know, it's just nonsense. Advanced haki is part of the problem with the powering, but I guess awakening kinda is too. He also kinda made Yonko too strong.

Off-panel serves as a great shock factor, is that really not obvious? If vocal point of story is Luffy, showing for example revs getting destroyed is a great WTF HOW reaction and later when you learn how it is, just sounds good. Would I have liked to see it? Sure, but do I find the appeal and the shock factor within the story? Absolutely. This is Luffy's story as well.

But it's not inconsistent isn't it? You've never seen Luffy getting one shot by a nab. Kinda obvious Oda decided to show Shanks and others now after years because powerspike was a massive difference.

I don't think you can name me one power inconsistency that isn't justified. I can't think off one off top of my head.

Yeah because it's Luffy's story and has always been his story....it's not Law as MC or anyone else for that matter.

The stuff which is relevant, you see later in the story is that not true?

Also you are being very harsh because OP verse is much bigger and detailed than Naruto's verse.

It's just Naruto focused only on leaf village and OP focuses on the whole world.

Off-paneling the rest of the world while seeing stuff through Luffy's eyes just works lol otherwise you'd go from place to place and had the shittiest pacing ever.

The problem isn't that it's just off panel, but you don't even get to see how it went down after the fact, via a small flashback or something. So it's just literally not even shown. How is it any different from Kidd being destroyed on Panel, but he just skipped over Law? Should've shown both because they are both major key points. It's ok to skip over occasional things, but I think it happens too much.

Ok, power level growth was basically

    upload_2023-4-21_17-25-10.png

I would say the growth and thus power scale from Wano ended up being inconsistent. Then we come back from Luffy 1v1 "the strongest creature in the world" and just struggles pathetically. We have SH post Yonko crew struggling. The higher tier power growth from OP went from a steady linear grown to something like super Saiyan multiplier tier it's the odd thing out. It went from the group of 5 of the strongest pirates minus Yonko getting laughable dealt with, to luffy with coc 1v1 kaido, then the awakening actually just stomped kaido. Imu will end up Kaguya tier and most people will be here to defend it, which is fine if you like it, but pretty funny double standard if the same thing is a complaint for something like Naruto.

I don't even know what you mean? I just said about arc general thoughts that I remembered. That is part of the issue of one piece. Oda tries to cram too much into it, so much so that it bogs down the pacing and actual story. His editors should be reining him in, but that's stopped for a while clearly. You can see the difference in pre ts arcs compared to post ts arcs. The former were usually more concise and focused with not as many characters and varied plot points. Just because something is "larger" or more "complex" doesn't always mean it's for the best. Quality over quantity is a good saying for this. Quality of characters over quantity of characters in an arc. You can focus on 300 characters for 10 panels each or 30 characters for 100 panels each. Which is the better experience?

Yeah because BB still unknown after TS and we never seen a single Shanks attack. Result was exactly the same, not showing BB now still hypes him up due to the one sentence it being soundly defeated.

That's not even inconsistent...Luffy went from G4 to G5 so the difference was inevitable in power. You act like Luffy didn't lose 3 times against Kaido then went G5 to get the upperhand while making Kaido tired af lol

My problem with Kaguya isn't her being strong, it's her having 0 relevance into the story up untill she was summoned, then got some BS powers. Imu is here, we know he has at least 1 ancient weapon and is the leader of Elders. Like it's hardly comparable to bloody Kaguya who came about in last arc lol

Well...pre-ts was an advanture, post-ts matured in content.

It's literally - would you like to see only 2 characters relevant like in Naruto or have more of them, I'd choose Oda's style.

Oda focuses on more characters hence why you have so many rememberable characters in the story, how's that a bad thing. In Naruto if you ask someone to out a fav list you'd have 90% of the list being copy paste lol, Oda has variety of characters, you not liking them is another thing but how's having variety bad?!

Also oh Kishi showed so many characters having fights, what? That's literally a myth. Oda gave so many fights to characters other than Luffy to what Kishi ever did in his story lmao

My brother in christ we're in the final leg of the story, why should Blackbeard still be "mysterious"? There's no point not showing anything outside of just teasing people over literally nothing. Nothing we didn't already would know happened happened. It's just a waste of time. This is just one specific instance we're talking about to.

Comparatively to basically every single other power up the leap in power was light years ahead. So yes, it's a massive outlier in the same was ACoC was. You're saying Kaido was tired to downplay it, but Luffy was also running on fumes. He was literally almost out as well. So there's no real difference in the fact Kaido got folded through the ground into the Lava. G4 would've tickled his chin at best even if he was fresh.

Origin and power tier will be same as Kaguya. It'll be some retarded alien shit with some epic oneshot of some other strong character to show they're top. Yeah, yeah, they were" shown" in silhouette (how original) like 80% of the way through the story. Kaguya was talked about by Madara iirc before or as Obito was becoming JJ. This was probably like 620 / 700 chapter mark, what's that? 88% through? Basically close enough. Oda executed it better for sure, and like you said at least Imu actually EXISTS currently right now, but I just know it's gonna leave the same bad taste Kaguya did and it'll probably extend to Two Piece.

Yes, the same rehashed arcs from pre-ts are mature now lol. Pre-ts would be just as "mature" in content.

Naruto focues on too few characters largely. One Piece focuses on too many new characters introduced in recent arcs. Not sure how else I can say this. A healthy middle ground would be good.

Bruh I can't even remember half of the characters between chapter weeks. you can't tell me you remember half of the Dressrosa characters he threw in, same for Wano. Just like we can't remember half of the Naruto war arc characters. It's the same issue.

At the end of the day I don't really have anything else to say on the matter. I'm not gonna change your mind, and you aren't gonna see this side so it's just a waste of time discussing it.
