Biden+Harris are actually the strongest centrist choices the Democrats had this year. All the others were centre-left to left. Biden+Harris were the safest choices for the Democrats to not only keep loyalist Democrat votes, but also sway/nab disgruntled Republicans. It also helps that Biden often voted with Republicans on many issues/bills and was/is a close personal friend of John McCain and many sitting Republican members of Congress.

Not surprised that Biden is leading. But I wouldn't get hopes up just yet.
