By definition he is more of an antagonist, because he opposed the main protagonist. The only argument you can really give for him is for heavens feel, but even then I wouldn't say he was a protagonist.

 

Who are you to decide who is the main protagonist? Fate/Zero shows the perspectives of both masters equally, disregarding Kirei as a protag just because you sympathize with Kerry's ideals more or w/e bs reason you have is retarded. Also limiting a multiple perspective narrative like F/Z to a black and white take of "protagonist and antagonist" is just as retarded. Who is the protagonist in GoT? And the antagonist? They all oppose each other and get equal screen time, so who is who? Kirei's enemy is not Kerry, it is himself. He doesn't oppose Kerry until right at the end, so assuming that you are right, at least until then, he's a protagonist.
