Students who avoid making eye contact could be guilty of racism, Oxford University says

If someone making eye contact is one of your major problems, chances are you don't have very serious problems

 

Really makes my neurons fire up.

I feel awkward when I look at people directly. lol

I can make brief eye contact, but then I must look away.
I feel like they're looking too deep into my soul.
And I can't have that.

And Oxford University? As in, the ******* UK? I literally just want to cry until there are no more tears, and then die of dehydration. Absolute ******* bellends.

 

lmao, I literally never make eye contact, even when talking to my old friends I knew since forever I always look somewhere else, I just can't concentrate if I'm looking at somene's face when talking to them (which tends to get misinterpreted as being dishonest for some reason) but I just generally tend to look at the floor or gaze somewhere else when talking to people.

 

Good that I didn't apply to Oxford. No wonder there are going downhill.

 

Maybe people are too shy or are uncomfortable making eye contact. What's with prestigious universities and their need to call every little action racism? I hope this fad ends soon.

 

No it's not that at all. This is why I said what I did. This is inherently British behaviour. It's completely normal.

And it is hypocritical considering these universities themselves have policies which could be construed as racist. At Warwick University for example, students who are not UK citizens must finish courses in half the time that resident/citizen students must. Furthermore, they have a higher cut-off mark for admission.

 

Unfortunately, this type of thinking/behavior has already spread to other places, the U.S. in particular. I've been reading on the news articles every so often about universities claiming this and that is racist. That's why I wish it was simply something that will soon pass so things that are truly racist are addressed properly. I wasn't aware that this was a normal occurence in the UK.

 

The amount of policing put into ideologies and opinions is staggering. There are more important issues - I wholeheartedly agree.
