Synopsis

A decade ago, princess Krystal Novaty “Hime” Nokanatika traveled from another world to escape assassination attempts by an evil force. When she arrives in modern-day Japan, she encounters Haruto Satou. With him she shares a promise: he must forget what he has just witnessed, and the two will become friends. Now heading back to the Nokanatika Kingdom to fulfill her royal duties, Hime bids farewell to Haruto. However, when the young man suddenly remembers his first meeting with Hime, he rushes to the location where she first appeared and crosses the dimensional portal to be reunited with her.

His arrival disrupts the marriage ceremony between Krystal and prince Marmarugias Gisaras. The wedding is brutally interrupted by the attack of an abyss monster who threatens the princess' life. Acting impulsively, Hime decides to exchange rings with Haruto, which grants her new husband light powers that permit him to slay the monster. Now dubbed as the Ring King, Haruto must marry four other princesses to acquire new magical powers and have a chance to prevail in his fight against the enemy of the world: the Abyss King.

Watching this as I remember reading it YEARS ago. Episode 1 was decent. Hime and Satou have been friends since childhood when Hime and her grandfather moved there. It's obvious they like each other, but Satou never really made a move. They went to a festival together and when Satou was going to confess, the fireworks interrupted him. Then, on the second attempt, he was interrupted by Hime saying that she was moving back home with her grandfather. Satou followed her and interrupted her wedding. Turns out she's a princess and was slated to marry a prince to join two places together and for the prince to become the ring king to save the world. An abyss monster also attacks and Hime kisses/completes the ritual with Satou making him the ring king. Now Satou has the duty of the ring king thrust upon him, so he has to figure out how to fight and defeat the abyss king.

 

Episode 2 was ok. An abyss knight was on the attack, something far outside of Satou's current ability. The prince that was meant to marry Hime is actually grateful that Satou did, because he doesn't have to deal with everything. The plan is to marry four other girls or get their rings to enhance his power to seal up the abyss. First up is the elf princess and she seems scared of any sort of intimacy. Plus seems to be distasteful of Satou coming from another world.

 

Episode 3 was alright. With the princess running away and Hime and Satou being stupefied, the current leader of the elves (the princess's brother) came in. He had Satou detained because he doesn't want Nefritis involved with him. He was set off because Satou said she was timid. He's a bit of a sis-con it seems. Jade wants Satou to wait 80 years. Luckily, Satou was broken out of the jail by a buxom elf, who turns out to be the elder, Peridot. Peridot knows the elves are being stupid by staying in their "prison". Peridot took Satou to the wind temple to the ring to take it, but they were interrupted by Nefritis arriving and praying to her parents. Peridot had Satou take Nefritis away to a "secure" location. It sparks panic amongst the elves due to her being "missing". Peridot tries to play it off as Satou and Nefritis eloping but it doesn't work. After Satou and Nefritis talk, she comes around to expressing her true feelings of wanting to travel in the outside world. It's quickly overruled by her brother being overprotective and overbearing not hearing anything. The mother of Jade and Nefritis wasn't meant to inherit the ring, it was meant to be her older sister. Her older sister fell in love with a human traveller and the elves drove him off or killed him. The older sister left the village and cursed it to be swallowed by the abyss and the line of the ring maidens come to an end. This caused Nefritis' mother to cast the wind barrier with her husband and she wished/told Nefritis to never leave.

 

Episode 4 was good. The group decided to leave without getting the wind ring, the main point coming from the grandfather. Jade was happy to see them leave, only for the barrier to be penetrated by the abyss knight and abyss monsters let in. Due to this, the group turned back around to help. Peridot attempted to persuade Nefritis to do anything but hide. But, after hearing Nefritis wouldn't do anything, she gave her some parting words that she should turn to stone already. Jade intercepted the main threat from getting the ring, but was easily dealt with. Satou and the others arrived to help. Satou, the prince and the sage all attempted to fight the abyss knight, even though there was no hope to win. Even Jade joined in for Nefritis. While the battle was ongoing, Hime went to have words to Nefritis. Eventually, she got through to her. Together, Hime and Nefritis smashed the statue and gave the right to Satou. With the newfound power, the battle was over and Satou passed out. Turns out, the abyss knight was the previous ring princess that left. Her negative feelings were used against her by the abyss king to control her. Satou, Hime and Nefritis enjoyed the hot spring, and even Peridot joined them. She wanted to watch how humans had intimate relations. She even got a view of little Satou lmao. Turns out, the sage and Hime's grandfather was the love of the elf, the previous ring princess Smaragdi, Alabaster. Nefritis left with the group to continue the journey.

 

Episode 5 was good. Poor Hime getting a bit jealous of Satou paying extra attention to Nefritis, to make her feel comfortable. The treat too. They planned to go to the land of water to the homeland of dragon folk. This is interrupted by the moving city approaching them. The homeland of cat people and the land of fire. When getting on board, Hime and Nefritis get separated. They end up being led to the others by going to the location of the fire princess. The fire princess is the strongest cat person, and fights all suitors which has been opened up to anyone. She crushes them all with ease. Satou goes up against her and loses in like two seconds. Alabaster tries to convince him to use the power of the rings, although he doesn't really want to. Seems he has relented on that. After training for a while and improving, Satou takes a trip to a bath house and agrees to get a scrub. To his disappointment, it wasn't the girl that baited him but a big muscular man to give it. Granart, the princess comes in and asks Satou to give her a scrub. During this, Granart proposes she throw the match to fulfil her role as the ring princess. This angers Satou and he insists she gives it her all.

 

Episode 6 was good. Started out pretty funny. Satou wakes up to Nefritis peering out from under the covers. She's been there since the night before, apparently. LMAO. She's just being supportive and encouraging him. She's impressed with his training and also the rings abilities. Although, she tries to give him reason for Granart. To use anything he can to win and not seek her approval. Satou just wants to go up against Granart fair and square with his own abilities. Hime is a little bit jealous again, this time of Granart. Fast forward a little and Satou is fighting Granart again although it's interrupted before they can finish. The previously defeated opponent comes across a dark ring, which is used to influence them, kicking off a battle. Granart seemingly couldn't defeat the abyss knight. Neitehr could Satou alone. Working together they took out the abyss knight, destroying the ring and turning the guy back to normal. Satou doesn't want any compromise from Granart and they continue to fight. After some words from Nefritis, Hime realises that Satou is doing it for her as well and Satou doesn't want to be perceived as just leeching power off them, being "uncool". Hime blurts out a reward of intercourse if he wins and he gets fired up. Satou gets some other voice, allegedly not from the princesses, which helps him to follow Granart's moves and pull a win. After that, Granart wants to make kids. Satou fell asleep before he could get his reward. They woke up to find Nefritis under the blanket again waiting for her turn, and Granart also waiting. Granart got hyped up by catnip and Hime and Nefritis KOed her lol.

 

Episode 7 was good. The group arrived in Maasa, in the land of water. Saphir, the princess is quick to "trick" Satou into marrying lol. She wants their help as Maasa is in danger from internal struggles. As they make their way to the castle, they're attacked by an octopus style abyss monster. Satou is able to deal with it. An oracle has been in the king's ear and has turned the king into a delusional bumbling idiot and turned him against the ring king. Turns out Saphir is a twin, either of her or Saphira could fulfil the role. Saphira isn't kind to Satou lol. Turns out Mars and Saphira have some backstory. Mars was sent there by his father to send back intel and get Maasa on their side. During this time, Mars and Saphira fell in love. Mars got reassigned to antoher mission, to become the ring king and said with this he'd be able to marry Saphira. She's bitter because he gave it up, but he couldn't forcefully marry Hime, when she reminded him so much of Saphira and didn't want to interfere with her happiness. Pretty shitty that Saphira won't even hear Mars out. Apparently Mars has also been reporting on the group's moves to his father. The stage has also been set for him to kill Satou and take the rings.

 

Episode 8 was good. Mars is conflicted on what to do. The abyss monster octopus thing started to attack again. During this time, Mars kind of gave in and started to attack and fight Satou. The rings tried to convince Satou to cut him down, but he didn't want any part in that. He conveyed to Mars how much his support meant and that they were friends. Taking a hit, Satou was able to snap Mars out of it, confirming he wasn't really being controlled, at least completely. Saphira was taken hostage by the octopus and the oracle appeared to try and take them out. Mars professed his love and asked Saphira to marry him. Saphir gave a kiss to Satou and transformed herself into a giant dragon-like creature. She was able to take out the octopus thing. The oracle fled before they could do anythign to her. Saphir & Saphira's father was snapped out of his shit and very thankful. He also gave Mars his support to marry Saphira. He also agreed to an alliance of sorts with the empire. The oracle returned to the emperor and tried to put him under her spell like with the king of the land of water. This failed and he killed her which was unexpected. He is against the ring king and abyss king, also mentioning the age of gods being over. I guess the abyss king will end up being a god or something? He seems like the main antagonist plotting.

 

Episode 9 was alright. Started out with Satou getting overwhelmed with hte four princesses deciding who sleeps next to him lol. They ended up just falling asleep. Satou then took Hime out on a solo date and doubled down her her being number 1 and the only one for him. He even said she was number one in front of them. Ngl, he kind of comes off as a bit of a douche, not really putting effort into the other girls, who have also basically been forced into this. The date was kind of meh. Now they're off to find the dwarves and dwarf princess, although they might have died out.

 

Episode 10 was an interesting turn. The group made it to the city where the dwarves resided and fought many battles. Their last battle was particularly bad. Going into the thrown room, they ran into a magical puppet which suprirsingly was wearing an abyss ring and was defeated. After this, the abyss king resurrected in full and spawned lots of abyss beasts. The group was outnumbered and in a bad spot, so Alabaster opened a portal back to Japan so the group could go there, while he and Mars bought time. The girls are figuring out underwear, and Nefritis wanted to know what free shipping is.

 

Episode 11 was ok. The group continued chilling for a little bit. The princesses minus Hime were wanting to get back. Nefritis and Granart were confident their people would be safe, but Saphir was worried. Hime doesn't want to go back and insists on just living in this world away from the abyss king, abandoning everything. Part of this is just worried the rings won't be enough and they'll die pointlessly. Hime and Satou find the dwarven princess, Amber. Well, it's more like a replica of Amber they created and sent to Satou's world to wait for the ring king. She's been there for centuries. I feel bad for Nefritis, Granart and Saphir, they're just forced to stay in the house room while Hime and Satou attend school. Eventually, going around Hime, Satou gets the fifth ring from Amber. After confronting Hime about going back, and getting her to agree, they are about to get intimate only to be interrupted by Amber saying she's opened the gate. It can only be opened once too lmao. Granart breaks in carrying the other two princesses to find out what's going on and they're all pleased to return.

 

Episode 12 was ok. Upon returning, the battle in the dwarven town was over. Nearby, the empire was fighting the abyss king and his army. Satou came in and took out some monsters and then got a massive attack off on the abyss king. He seemed to have one but it wasn't enough. He's not ready. Granart was able to save him for a moment before the abyss king got to him. It seemed like it was over, but Alabaster swooped in and saved them along with Smaragdi. Turns out Smaragdi saved Mars and Alabaster, so things turned out ok. Now the ring maidens are planning to go through some training to get stronger to help Satou in battle and also become better wives. Interesting, Hime has a younger sister and she'll be teaching her magic.

 

It's decent enough for the genre, and tries to do some things a little differently.
