Synopsis

While exploring a labyrinth, Rentt Faina, an adventurer with lots of experience but little to show for it, is killed by a dragon upon discovering its lair. Shockingly, he wakes up to find himself turned into a skeleton, the lowest class of undead monsters. As Rentt fights against the other monsters of the labyrinth, he discovers that slaying them gains him experience towards higher stages of undead evolution—even ones with flesh! With this revelation in hand, Rentt obtains a new objective in his undeath: keep evolving in the hope of eventually becoming a vampire, the highest form of undead that is nearly indistinguishable from human beings.

Despite being forced to hide his past identity and monstrous nature under an unremovable mask, Rentt manages to return to a semblance of his former life. Granted shelter by Lorraine Vivier, an elite researcher and retired adventurer, Rentt assumes her surname and starts over from scratch as a rookie. Determined to pursue his childhood dream and become a mithril-class adventurer, Rentt must be cautious not to disclose his new bodily circumstances, lest the adventurers’ guild seek to exterminate the monster he has become.

Episode 1 was good. So the main character is Rentt, an adventurer with 10 years of experience. Even with that though, he's just an average guy that hasn't really made it far. People also don't really team up with him due to he fairly mediocre abilities. During his latest escapade he ends up face to face with a dragon and gets turned into an undead, specifically a skeleton. He struggles killing other skeletons and slimes before finally evolving into a ghoul. Seems the current goal is just getting a more human appearance such as by becoming a vampire.

 

Episode 2 was good. Rentt really lucked out with the new adventurer girl stumbling upon him. She was reasonable and heard him out due to him saving her. She got him some clothes to disguise himself although one thing was a cursed masked which she didn't know was cursed. Thanks to her efforts, Rentt has returned to the surface. He also split from her likely to protect her as he's not human at this point.

 

Episode 3 was good. Poor Rentt is basically a test subject for his friend lol. She's helping him though and being good. He also got a new sword. Going back to the labyrinth to try and evolve further he saved a restaurant owner that became an adventurer and went into the dungeon to try and repay debt. When they went into some room Rentt lead him to, he ignored the warning and got teleported. They've ended up in a boss room. The boss is a giant skeleton.

 

Episode 4 was good. Rentt was able to take out the skeleton boss alone. He healed up Loris and they agreed to work together for him keeping Rentt's secret and free meals at the restaurant for life. Rentt got a craving for human flesh and after taking a bite of Lorraine, seemed to evolve again. This time closer to a vampire. Rentt's sword was ruined so he got another ne and is now back to it.

 

Episode 5 was good. Rentt has re-registered as an adventurer as a cover. Probably not a great idea to use the same first name lol, oh well. Venturing back to the hidden area he was attacked and almost killed by an elf. They somehow smoothed things over and she gifted him a really good cloak and a magical item map which tracks where he's been and can show it back along with people he encounters in the labyrinth.

 

Episode 6 was good. Rentt completed hi quest of slaying 3 ogres without issue so was offered to take the promotional test. They didn't expect him to turn up for the one about to happen lol. But, he aced it and now is teaming up with the two rookies and helping them get through it. Looks like a boss fight is next!

 

Episode 7 was good. The group successfully took out a grand slime and proceeded on. They were the first team to get to the designated spot getting them a prize. The also passed. Looks like Sheila figured out Rentt was Rentt. She made a contract to prove she wouldn't tell anyone and was honestly worried about him. All was revealed to her.

 

Episode 8 was good. Rentt to an off-the-board job from some poor kid begging for help. Turns out his village had sacrificed one of the girls to a "sea god" to get its blessing. Things were fine for a long time, before it went bad. They sacrificed girls again and they got more and more frequent. Turns out, merchants in the area were behind it and held the girls. They were planning on selling them into slavery but fortunately didn't get that far thanks to Rentt. All's well that ends well.

 

Episode 9 was good. Rentt has picked a mission to gather a flower for an orphanage. Turns out, the request was supposed to be to clear out the basement, but one of the orphans made the request for the nun to get the flower to heal her. Rent accepted both requests, even though the basement cleaning wasn't part of it. He ended up getting a familiar out of it, a rat. Rentt ended up going to the swamp in search of the flower. He encountered a large amount of goblins and defeated them without much issue. Next up poor Rentt was stuck fighting some huge monster. Thanks to his new sword he managed to cleave it in two. Finally getting to the flower, he stumbled upon a male elf.

 

Episode 10 was good. The elf asked Rentt to gather flowers for his mistress in the future and he agreed. Once getting back to the guild, he asked Sheila to keep it on the low he defeated that monster. Very impressive he did it in one attack, apparently. After returning to the orphanage, Alize was impressed with how quick he was. After dropping it off, he went back to Lorraine and wooed her after she got a bit mad. It was nice to see the medicine made for the nun. Now Rentt has gone off again and is trying his luck at a maze that changes around.

 

Episode 11 was good. Rentt continued attempting to get through the maze and happened upon a girl drinking tea. He gladly accepted tea. Chatting to her, she had a magic item tea pot worth 300 platinum coins. Ridiculously expensive, considering 1 platinum coin allows someone to live in luxury. After a hint, he eventually made it through the maze. Turns out the girl was Laura Latuule, the head of the Latuule family. Poor Rentt also caused a golem to attack. He was about to bust out some big move before they stopped it. Rentt picked his prize - basically a remote control magic item.

 

Episode 12 was good. We finally got Rentt's backstory. He wants to become a mithril adventurer so he can prevent another tragedy. Turns out his family and a childhood friend went out travelling. They were attacked by a monster that killed the adults and then his friend saved him as she promised to protect him. After she died, a mithril adventurer showed up and the monster fled after a battle. Originally, the childhood friend Jinlin wanted to become an adventurer, but in a way that became Rentt's goal. Rentt drank the blood and evolved into a lesser vampire. He even has wings. Nice to see him in a much more human body.
